They think they have won hundreds of thousands of euros, it was a bug

Many people who played online on the website of the French Gaming Federation (FDJ) had the false joy of seeing again that they have never actually touched. The FDJ explains that this is a malfunction for which it is not responsible. The courts agree with them.

Don't always believe what you see. This motto could well apply to the Française des Jeux (FDJ). Many players who use the FDJ website have been surprised to see winning numbers with a considerable gain... without being able to touch it. According to the FDJ, it was a "display inconsistency", reports Indiancustomer.in.

A player, who reloaded € 25 every five weeks on his account of the FDJ since 2012, scratched a ticket "Cash" on All Saints' Day in 2019. A sum is displayed: she won €100,000. But, when the player looks at her customer account, the sum is not credited. At first, the customer service tells her not to worry, but later the company tells her that she will not receive anything. The customer was the victim of a posting error and the FDJ specifies that it is not responsible for it.

500 000 € gone up in smoke

Similar testimonies have been recorded on a Facebook group dedicated to scratch cards and sports betting. Players believe they have won a large sum of money that appears on the screen but it is never credited. And the FDJ always gives the same answer. Still, in 2019, another player had won €500,000 according to what she saw on the screen. But again, the FDJ opposed a computer bug.

Decisions in favor of the FDJ

In March 2021, the Internet user then filed a lawsuit but the court of Dieppe dismissed her claim. "This is not normal: we had proof of the gain, the screenshot. The FDJ can not return the fault to the player, who is not responsible for the computer chain of the site, "said his lawyer. It has therefore appealed the decision and hired a new lawyer.

The lawyer wants to change the case law. Questioned by Capital, the FDJ explains that these malfunctions can be caused by "a virus, an obsolescence of the material, [...], a breakdown".
